Andaman Island

After our short little break it was off to the Beautiful Indian island called Andaman Island on March 16. Well at least we wish we could say it was beautiful. We didn`t have a shore excursion booked which was probably a good thing. It rained the entire time we were in port and for the most part very heavily. We took a shuttle into town and with our trusty ponchos we braved the rain and walked the short walk to the main shopping street. We didn`t end up purchasing anything as most of the things were very uninteresting and we were too busy avoiding stepping in anything-dead rats, garbage and feces.  The people there just threw their garbage in the streets and it was not a clean island what so ever. It was a shame because I`m sure if it was taken care of the island could have been beautiful but as we would soon see, this was an unfortunately common theme with India. As the rain got heavier and the water being up to our ankles or higher in some places all we could think of was what we had just seen on the streets was now in the water-GROSS. We got back to the ship and after a hot shower, well kind of, we were ready to eat. I say kind of because they were working on the water system and all we could get out was a trickle of water. It was enough I guess but definitely a bad time to be doing that.
